Personal Trainer

Within the near future, I'm looking to gain my certification for personal training. In attempts to specialize in older adult and post rehabilitation exercises, personal training will help me gain experience necessary to move onto my future goals.

Career Goals

Occupational Therapy Aide

While working, I would also like to find shadowing hours with an occupational therapist. By working in whatever field I'm placed in while shadowing an occupational therapist, I'm looking to tie in both in order to have a constant and continuing learning experience.

ABOUT ME

As a first generation Filipino-American, it is my dream to work within the fitness industry aiding others in any means necessary. Growing up in a household where both my parents are nurses, it has been second nature for me to help out my fellow man. Playing every sport imaginable with my older brother helped me early on in life to learn the values of teamwork, trust, hard-work and, most importantly, failure. I've learned over the recent years that without failure or loss, one cannot truly appreciate what they have nor can they see their true strength. For me, that loss came when I transferred from Seton Hall University back in 2014.

Originally enrolled as a nursing student I thought it was what I was called to do in life, just as my parents were. However, I quickly learned that I was disinterested in what was going on in the classroom. Staying busy through organizations such as hall council and the students nursing association, I found myself wanting more. Discouraged by my lack of interest, my parents were not very fond to hear that I wanted to quit nursing school. At an all time low, I thought school just wasn't for me; my parents upset with my decision to leave nursing school and my grades starting to falter, I was starting on a downward spiral. However, I quickly discovered what exercise science was and fell in love instantaneously. From the day I stepped foot on William Paterson's campus, I felt a change in myself. Invigorated to learn all I could and determined to still help others in any means, I was fired up for what was in store for me. Taking classes with fantastic professors who really extended their hand when I needed it was the turning point for me. I knew then that I picked the right major.

Occupational Therapy Graduate School

My ultimate goal is to attend graduate school in attempts to gain a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy. Although I plan on doing this much further down the road, I plan on doing anything I can in order to become closer to reaching that goal.
